Testimonials

“The hardest thing you will do is walk through the door for the first time. Once you have achieved that the rest is easy. My fitness had nose-dived after a back injury when I started and from struggling to last 30 minutes I now work out for two hours at a time. I’ve also manages to stop smoking, and as the gym has plenty of equipment, you’re guaranteed a varied workout no matter what your goal are. The staff are great and always willing to give advice – all you have to do is ask!”
David, 44

“Being four-and-a-half stone lighter as well as having a significantly higher level of fitness has made me feel so much better about myself. My fitness programme has allowed me to keep track of my improvements, and as well as the gym I sometimes go to the classes for a change. If you’re thinking about joining, get yourself along, because trust me, you’ll never look back.”
Gail, 29

"As a regular gym user (3-4 times per week), I was struggling to lose lose my festive weight gain, but in the space of four weeks with the introduction of using the Vibrostation three times a week combined with my gym visits, I am now seeing visible results. The Vibrostation has given me the tone, definition, and results I have previously struggled to achieve, all in such a short space of time, whilst reducing my actual time in the gym. I will definately be continuing to exercise with the Vibrostation, and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending it to anyone."
Jane, 57

"In just 12 weeks, I managed to shed almost a stone-and-a-half, lose over a fifth of my body fat, and change my body shape. As a result I feel as fit as I possibly ever have, and I have actually surprised myself. After the initial tough first few weeks, you soon find things easier and you get a buzz from working out and from the progress you are making. Variation helps and I combined two Spinning classes per week with regular gym visits on top of other activities outside of the gym. If you really WANT to do it, you WILL make the time, you WILL achieve, and you WILL see and feel the difference. If you can't make the time, then you're just kidding yourself on... I should know... I did it for years!"
Stuart, 33

“Following a regular exercise programme in the gym has helped me become more toned and it has given me a lot more energy.”
Ellen, 43

“Joining Think Fitness helped me transform my body shape, my lifestyle, and my confidence, in a matter of months. I find the place to be a really motivational environment as the staff are always extremely positive about my personal progress, and it’s also a great place to meet new people.”
Graham, 36

“Before joining I was overweight with a bad diet. Thanks to the facilities and staff I have completely changed. I have lost five stones, I eat healthily, and I work out regularly as there is always a new challenge to keep me interested and motivated.”
Simon, 37

“Although I wasn’t overweight when I joined, i wasn’t happy with my figure and felt unfit. After following my programme for a couple of months and attending some of the classes, I actually managed to lose quite a bit of weight as well as toning up a lot. I now feel great and can do more than ever.”
Zoe, 30

“Although I considered myself to be in good condition for my age before I joined, I’ve managed to become stronger and more supple. Joining the gym is the best thing I have done in years.”
Duncan, 87

I have been a member for two years and I can see a big difference. I've lost two stones, I feel ten years younger, and I have lots more energy. My advice is to fit three training sessions into your regular week and you will feel the benefits. Just take it one step at a time. If I can do it, anyone can do it.
Gary, 44

“Although I was reasonably fit when I started, within a matter of weeks and with a bit of help from the staff I felt a lot fitter.”
Billy, 51

“I was unhappy with my fitness when I first started, but the facilities and approachable staff have helped me change my body shape.”
Tracy, 31

Weel-Kent Face 2009

The 2009 competition saw the previous year's points system retained and this time Amanda Nichol was triumphant receiving her award from the previous year's winner at Hawick Cricket Club, following the postponement of the third annual 'Itz A Knockout' task due to adverse weather, making the conditions trecherous for the 'faces' and useless for spectators. This was the first year the competition started with less than ten competitors due to Radio Borders DJ Stuart McCulloch's non-appearance.

Winner - Amanda

Amanda is here pictured at the beginning of the Mountain Rescue task at the bottom of Ruberslaw. The task took a slightly different format this year, and instead of the 'faces' tackling the hill they had to negotiate the trickier underfoot conditions of the revine that lies below the summit. Nurse Nichol seemed to love every minute of the competition, proving to be a very worthy winner. She and 2008 winner Nicola are walking to this year's Mosspaul Rideout to raise money for charity.

Dougie

Hawick Golf Club Treasurer, after-dinner speaker and all round comedian Dougie Leithhead was far from the joker-in-the-pack during the competition, proving to be a very able and competitive contender. Dougie, the first 'face' to take part in the same competition as his wife, did show his light-hearted side on several occasions though, as well as his skill, the most impressive being his Ronaldo-style stepover shuffle during the football part of the Multi-sports task at the all-weather pitch. Dougie earned himself a further discount on his Think Fitness membership by citing Think Fitness as one of the things he loves most about Hawick!

Gibbon

Hawick News journalist Gavin Gibbon, better known as 'Scoop' by his close friends can sniff out an exclusive across continents. Gibbon did well to accept his role as competition whipping boy from the outset, and was up for anything to get a giggle. His greatest asset was his ability to laugh at himself, which came in handy during Sara Monaghan's Street Dance task, amongst others, when his complete lack of co-ordination and rhythm were called into question!

Jackie

Swimmming Instructor Jackie Wilson actually comes very close to being the fitness competitor in competition history. Anyone who can even contemplete fell-running must be fit or mad! Despite her impressive fitness levels, Jackie put everything she had into every task, raising the bar for every other 'face'.

Lisa

Panto star Lisa Scott, who is married to former Greens prop Keith 'Enzo' Scott is another 'face' who was well up for a laugh. Lisa is pictured smiling here during the Spinning class, an expression that was wiped from her face by the time the class finished!

Mony

Football coach, and Hawick Waverley player Chris Monaghan followed in father Gerry's footsteps by taking part in the competition. He was relieved to have been evicted by the time his sister hosted her Street Dance task, which Gerry organised. Mony is pictured here during teh Archery task.

Pearl

The better looking half of the first husband and wife competition combo, and the second Pearl to take part, Mrs Leithhead was another keen competitor. A former darts champion, Pearl is pictured here during the Bowling task at which she was a bit of a natural. Along with husband Dougie, she has continued to enjoy the benfefits of the gym beyond the competition itself.

Sian

Youth worker Sian Anderson was the eventual runner-up in the competition, and she is pictured here during the Golf task at the Vertish. Sian had her work cut out combining the competition with her post at the Escape Youth Cafe.

Speedly

Former Greens captain Keith Hedley used the competition to keep himself in shape before going under the knife to get surgery done on a longstanding injury. Like the majority of the 'faces' Speedly was another up for a laugh, none more so when it came to dressing up for Ian Landles' Back To School task.

Stuart

Despite organising several inductions, Radio Borders DJ Stuart McCulloch never managed to even get started. The mystery remains unsolved...
