Testimonials

“Although I wasn’t overweight when I joined, i wasn’t happy with my figure and felt unfit. After following my programme for a couple of months and attending some of the classes, I actually managed to lose quite a bit of weight as well as toning up a lot. I now feel great and can do more than ever.”
Zoe, 30

“Although I was reasonably fit when I started, within a matter of weeks and with a bit of help from the staff I felt a lot fitter.”
Billy, 51

"As a regular gym user (3-4 times per week), I was struggling to lose lose my festive weight gain, but in the space of four weeks with the introduction of using the Vibrostation three times a week combined with my gym visits, I am now seeing visible results. The Vibrostation has given me the tone, definition, and results I have previously struggled to achieve, all in such a short space of time, whilst reducing my actual time in the gym. I will definately be continuing to exercise with the Vibrostation, and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending it to anyone."
Jane, 57

I have been a member for two years and I can see a big difference. I've lost two stones, I feel ten years younger, and I have lots more energy. My advice is to fit three training sessions into your regular week and you will feel the benefits. Just take it one step at a time. If I can do it, anyone can do it.
Gary, 44

“Before joining I was overweight with a bad diet. Thanks to the facilities and staff I have completely changed. I have lost five stones, I eat healthily, and I work out regularly as there is always a new challenge to keep me interested and motivated.”
Simon, 37

"In just 12 weeks, I managed to shed almost a stone-and-a-half, lose over a fifth of my body fat, and change my body shape. As a result I feel as fit as I possibly ever have, and I have actually surprised myself. After the initial tough first few weeks, you soon find things easier and you get a buzz from working out and from the progress you are making. Variation helps and I combined two Spinning classes per week with regular gym visits on top of other activities outside of the gym. If you really WANT to do it, you WILL make the time, you WILL achieve, and you WILL see and feel the difference. If you can't make the time, then you're just kidding yourself on... I should know... I did it for years!"
Stuart, 33

“The hardest thing you will do is walk through the door for the first time. Once you have achieved that the rest is easy. My fitness had nose-dived after a back injury when I started and from struggling to last 30 minutes I now work out for two hours at a time. I’ve also manages to stop smoking, and as the gym has plenty of equipment, you’re guaranteed a varied workout no matter what your goal are. The staff are great and always willing to give advice – all you have to do is ask!”
David, 44

“I was unhappy with my fitness when I first started, but the facilities and approachable staff have helped me change my body shape.”
Tracy, 31

“Being four-and-a-half stone lighter as well as having a significantly higher level of fitness has made me feel so much better about myself. My fitness programme has allowed me to keep track of my improvements, and as well as the gym I sometimes go to the classes for a change. If you’re thinking about joining, get yourself along, because trust me, you’ll never look back.”
Gail, 29

“Following a regular exercise programme in the gym has helped me become more toned and it has given me a lot more energy.”
Ellen, 43

“Joining Think Fitness helped me transform my body shape, my lifestyle, and my confidence, in a matter of months. I find the place to be a really motivational environment as the staff are always extremely positive about my personal progress, and it’s also a great place to meet new people.”
Graham, 36

“Although I considered myself to be in good condition for my age before I joined, I’ve managed to become stronger and more supple. Joining the gym is the best thing I have done in years.”
Duncan, 87

Weel-Kent Face 2006

The third year of the competition saw the competition grow in popularity again, and it was girl power as females grabbed the top three places. Dental Hygienist Hazel Cameron was crowned the first female winner, coming from behind to snatch the title on the final day of competition.

Winner - Hazel

Hazel is pictured here at Ian and Liz Logan's first Clay Pigeon Shooting task for the Weel-Kent Face competition, and what a dark horse she was. Hazel is still a gym regular these days, and on the back of the competition, Hazel raised over £12,000 with her 'Daffodils For Life' campaign, and every year for evermore Hawick people can enjoy the daffodils Hazel planted (single-handedly!) on the roadsides on the A7 Northbound on the outskirts of Hawick.

Cookie

The photo opposite sums up game-for-a-laugh Ian Cook perfectly, who was relentless in his quest for fun during the competition. Not content with donning his Sumo suit during the Wrestling task at Party On The Pitch, Cookie turned up for the final task the following day, which was 'Haig's Hike' dressed as Superman!

David

PE Teacher David Wright was right at home in the Gymnastics task at the High School, launching himself off the trampoline. David hosted the competition's very first Cricket task in 2009, which proved to be very popular with that year's 'faces'.

Derek

Photographer Derek Lunn is game for laugh during the Archery task, and although Derek contributed a lot to the competition his biggest contribution was to organise the very first end of competition night out, which is the an annual ritual. Derek also organised a group photo before the night out, which he kindly presented to every 'face' as a momento.

Evelyn

Local shop owner and community stalwart Evelyn Sangster gets ready to rumble during the Boxercise task. Evelyn was a very determined competitor and continued her exercise regime beyond the competition.

Fordy

The Fordmeister followed in his Mum Helen's footsteps becoming the second member of the Ford family to take part in the competition. Graeme went on to pen the local showstopper 'Diesel' and can be found regularly cutting up the fairways at the Vertish, where he has hosted a couple of Golf tasks as part of the competition since.

Gillian

Former Cornet's Lass and local Opera star Gillian Patterson gets ready to tackle Ruberslaw on the Mountain Rescue task. Gillian came so close to winning eventually finishing in the top three behind Jackie and Hazel as the girls were dominant.

Jackie

Fronting her and husband Nick's bakery restaurant cafe Brydon's Jackie Powolny was in the ideal place to canvass for votes and was so close to winning only to be pipped for first place on the last day, and eventually finishing runner-up. Jackie is pictured incorporating her dance skills into the Launch Class, which unluckily didn't earn her any extra votes!

Lisa-Jayne

Reverend Lisa-Jayne Rankin pictured here at the Archery task, was unlucky to be the first 'face' to be evicted from this year's competition, as her church commitments restricted her appearances. Lisa-Jayne was a very bubbly competitor, and was just unfortunate that somebody had to go!

Rob

Football coach Rob Shiel catches his breath during the early morning Boot Camp task. Another who put so much into the competition, it was ironic that 'Rob's Rap' in the Laughing Buddha Chinese Restaurant at the end of competition night out went down as his 'best bit', and as one of the most unforgettable moments in competition history!
