Testimonials

I have been a member for two years and I can see a big difference. I've lost two stones, I feel ten years younger, and I have lots more energy. My advice is to fit three training sessions into your regular week and you will feel the benefits. Just take it one step at a time. If I can do it, anyone can do it.
Gary, 44

“Although I wasn’t overweight when I joined, i wasn’t happy with my figure and felt unfit. After following my programme for a couple of months and attending some of the classes, I actually managed to lose quite a bit of weight as well as toning up a lot. I now feel great and can do more than ever.”
Zoe, 30

“Before joining I was overweight with a bad diet. Thanks to the facilities and staff I have completely changed. I have lost five stones, I eat healthily, and I work out regularly as there is always a new challenge to keep me interested and motivated.”
Simon, 37

“The hardest thing you will do is walk through the door for the first time. Once you have achieved that the rest is easy. My fitness had nose-dived after a back injury when I started and from struggling to last 30 minutes I now work out for two hours at a time. I’ve also manages to stop smoking, and as the gym has plenty of equipment, you’re guaranteed a varied workout no matter what your goal are. The staff are great and always willing to give advice – all you have to do is ask!”
David, 44

“Being four-and-a-half stone lighter as well as having a significantly higher level of fitness has made me feel so much better about myself. My fitness programme has allowed me to keep track of my improvements, and as well as the gym I sometimes go to the classes for a change. If you’re thinking about joining, get yourself along, because trust me, you’ll never look back.”
Gail, 29

“Although I was reasonably fit when I started, within a matter of weeks and with a bit of help from the staff I felt a lot fitter.”
Billy, 51

“I was unhappy with my fitness when I first started, but the facilities and approachable staff have helped me change my body shape.”
Tracy, 31

“Following a regular exercise programme in the gym has helped me become more toned and it has given me a lot more energy.”
Ellen, 43

"In just 12 weeks, I managed to shed almost a stone-and-a-half, lose over a fifth of my body fat, and change my body shape. As a result I feel as fit as I possibly ever have, and I have actually surprised myself. After the initial tough first few weeks, you soon find things easier and you get a buzz from working out and from the progress you are making. Variation helps and I combined two Spinning classes per week with regular gym visits on top of other activities outside of the gym. If you really WANT to do it, you WILL make the time, you WILL achieve, and you WILL see and feel the difference. If you can't make the time, then you're just kidding yourself on... I should know... I did it for years!"
Stuart, 33

“Joining Think Fitness helped me transform my body shape, my lifestyle, and my confidence, in a matter of months. I find the place to be a really motivational environment as the staff are always extremely positive about my personal progress, and it’s also a great place to meet new people.”
Graham, 36

“Although I considered myself to be in good condition for my age before I joined, I’ve managed to become stronger and more supple. Joining the gym is the best thing I have done in years.”
Duncan, 87

"As a regular gym user (3-4 times per week), I was struggling to lose lose my festive weight gain, but in the space of four weeks with the introduction of using the Vibrostation three times a week combined with my gym visits, I am now seeing visible results. The Vibrostation has given me the tone, definition, and results I have previously struggled to achieve, all in such a short space of time, whilst reducing my actual time in the gym. I will definately be continuing to exercise with the Vibrostation, and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending it to anyone."

Weel-Kent Face 2005

The second year saw the competition just grow bigger again, as 'faces' had an insight into what to expect, voting campaigns gathered a bit more momentum and competition between 'faces' increased. Graeme 'Coby' Cockburn was triumphant to become the second 'Weel-Kent Face' winner.

Winner - Coby

School teacher and Linden man Coby demonstrates his talent to the full during the Sword Dancing task. Following his apprearance in the second Weel-Kent Face competition, Coby went head-to-head against 2004 winner Chappy in a one-off 15 task challenge event, which raised £2200 for the Children's Ward at the BGH and Border SANDS (Still-born And Neo-natal Death Society). After 14 events at Wilton Lodge Park, the gym, and the Waverley Bar, the gruesome twosome were tied at 7-7, only for Coby to pip Chappy by downing a pint of Guinness the fastest in the final event to win the title of 'Maist Weel-Kent Face'.

Davie P

Councillor Davie Patterson is put into the stocks by Hawick RFC mascot Robbie The Bear during the 'Public Humiliation' task where members of the public made donations to soak their favourite or least favourite 'faces' by throwing sponges at them at the Horse. Davie P brought a lot of laughs to the competition with his unique sense of humour and running style. In later years Davie P wowed the crowds with his performances in the 2007 and 2008 'Itz A Knockout' competitions, which were the final events those years where former 'faces' returned to take on that year's current batch of 'faces', particlarly during the 'Slippery Slope' event.

Eileen

Exchange Bar landlady Eileen steps up to the challenge. Eileen has remained a bit of a regular over the years at Think Fitness, whilst many 'faces' have entertained the Dalton's regulars with a spot of Karaoke over the years on the end of competition nights out!

Fee

Southern Reporter journalist Fiona Scott stretches herself during the Yoga task. Fee was first to fall in 2005, and exacted her revenge on Think Fitness through her diary column in the Southern following her exit!

Hamish

Local Jeweller Hamish Smith, who earned the nickname 'Lord Of The Rings' during the competition, is pictured enjoying himself during the Sword Dancing task. Hamish still runs his family business at the Horse to this day.

Helen

Community Councillor and 'Weel-Kent' chatterbox Helen Ford took Ann Scott's title of 'Most Talkative Face' during this year's competition. Helen was another game competitor, and never passes on the street without saying hello or throwing some good-natured abuse.

Liz

Wee Shop proprieter and former Office landlady Liz Logan was another star in this year's competition, and she would return in later years to host her Clay Pigeon Shooting task along with her husband Ian, as well as getting herself in a mess during 'Itz A Knockout', showing she was a real sport. Liz finished runner-up.

Louise

Miss Philbin as she is better in her current position as PE teacher at Hawick High School, had been Cornet's Lass when she took part in the competition. She is pictured her packing a real punch at the Boxercise task. Louise joined the Think Fitness that took part in the Chris Hoy Half Marathon in 2010.

Reidso

Hawick RFC captain Kevin loved every minute competing against Uncle Coby during this competition. Reidso went on to make the most appearances ever in a Hawick jersey after the competition, and recently became a father for the first time. Reidso also had the honour of officially Think Fitness opening on Friday 17th August 2001!

Solley

Common Riding enthusiast and 1514 President Dave Solley was always up for a laugh in the competition and he shows off his double jointed talents during Sword Dancing task. His pal and 2004 winner Chappy described him as Ron Geremie's stunt double. Solley now resides in Wales.
