Weel-Kent Face 2004
The popularity of the first ever 'Weel-Kent Face' competition took us by surprise, as we never imagined it would be such a popular competition format, and turn into what is now an established event in the Hawick calender. David 'Chappy' Chapman of Scocha fame (amongst other things) won the 2004 competition to go into the history books as the original 'Weel-Kent Face'.
Ann |
|
Home Economics teacher Ann takes a break from exercising her jaws! A competition legend and friend of Think Fitness, Auntie Ann is an unsung heroine in the community, and regularly looks after the boys at Think Fitness by feeding them with home-baking then taking them canoeing round St Mary's Loch to burn off the calories they have consumed! |
Dodger |
|
Dodger stands in front of a dramatic backdrop on Ruberslaw at the end of the very first Mountain Rescue task, a task which has featured every year in the competition and is widely regarded as the highlight of the tasks. We are indebted to Tweed Valley Mountain Rescue for the time they give up and the resources they use every year to put this task on. Former cornet Dodger meanwhile still trains at Think Fitness, recently completing the Chris Hoy half-marathon in a very very impressive time. |
Jimbo |
|
Rugby legend Jim Renwick on his way to the Ruberslaw summit during the Mountain Rescue task. Another Think Fitness regular, who used the competition as a springboard to getting back into shape. When not in the gym, Jimbo can be found hustling all-comers on golf courses throughout Scotland and beyond. |
